Product variants: track every color and size separately

A T-shirt in three colors and five sizes is really fifteen stock items. StokTakip generates those combinations for you and tracks each one.

One product, dozens of stock items

Creating each variant as a separate product is tedious and makes it hard to see the product as a whole. Keeping it as a single product hides which size or color has run out.

In clothing, accessories and home textiles especially, the best-selling size sells out while others sit on the shelf, and the total stock number hides that imbalance.

Define attributes, let StokTakip build the combinations

For a product you define attribute types such as color and size, and their values (red, blue; S, M, L…). StokTakip generates every combination as a variant in one go.

Each variant has its own SKU, price, cost and stock. In the variant table you edit prices, costs and quantities row by row, and see and adjust a variant's stock per warehouse.

The parent product's stock is the sum of its variants, so you see both the whole and each size or color. In marketplace listings you can upload variant-specific images too.

How it works

  1. Add attribute types

Define attributes like color and size and their values for the product.

  2. Generate variants

StokTakip creates every combination; remove the ones you don't sell.

  3. Enter prices and stock

Edit each variant's SKU, price, cost and quantity in the variant table.

  4. Track per warehouse

See how many units of a variant sit in each warehouse and adjust stock per warehouse.

Details

  • Attribute types and values are defined per product.
  • Per-variant SKU, price, cost, quantity and stock status.
  • Parent product stock = sum of its variants.
  • Variant stock is kept and adjusted per warehouse.
  • Variant-specific images can be used in marketplace listings.
  • A product can't be both a bundle and have variants.

In practice: working with variants

Name attribute values consistently from the start. Calling the same color "Navy" on one product and "Dark Blue" on another creates confusion in reports and listings. Entering ordered values such as sizes in the order you use in store makes the variant table easier to read.

Design SKUs that describe the variant. Adding color and size abbreviations to the parent code helps whoever picks the item choose the right variant and speeds up matching on marketplace panels.

If you don't sell every combination, delete the ones you don't, so your stock list only shows products that exist and zero-stock variants don't clutter alerts and reports.

Where price depends on the variant, for example larger sizes costing more, enter it on that row. Entering cost per variant too shows which size or color is more profitable.

When adding a new season's products, generate variants after the product details are complete, then edit prices and costs in the table and prepare marketplace content and variant images on the same product.

Frequently asked questions

Can each variant have its own SKU?

Yes. Each variant has its own SKU, price, cost and stock; every SKU must be unique.

How is the parent product's stock calculated?

It's the sum of its variants' stock. Stock changes are made at the variant level.

Can I add a product with variants to a bundle?

A product can't be both a bundle and have variants. Bundles are made of regular products.

Can red and blue have different photos?

Yes. On the listings screen you can upload images tied to a specific variant.

Can I delete a variant I don't sell?

Yes, from the variant table; deleted variants no longer show in stock lists and product screens.

Can sizes or colors have different prices?

Yes. Each variant has its own price and cost; for example, enter a higher price for larger sizes on their rows in the variant table.

How do I see which warehouse a variant is in?

The variant table shows each variant's stock per warehouse, and stock adjustments are made for a specific warehouse.
